What is the Big Factor in making a Lucknow a “Sports City”?

Lucknow of today has become one of the most important city of Uttar Pradesh. This city is one of the largest city of Uttar Pradesh. It is being taken into the consideration to develop more and more new projects. People of #lucknow are expecting a lot from this city as it was known for its culture and tradition and now too. Lucknow has given a lot of tales starting from the Ramayan Period to the Mughals, this city saw many phases. This city is bounded on the east by #Barabanki, on the west by Unnao, on the south by Raebareli and in the north by #Sitapur and #Hardoi, Lucknow sits on the northwestern shore of the Gomti River. According to one legend, the city is named after Lakshmana, a hero of the ancient Hindu epic Ramayana.


Now Lucknow is planning to give the “lucknow waasi” an International Cricket Stadium. The Lucknow Development Authority has made up its mind to host the dream project, the International Cricket Stadium. The project’s construction is on in full swing at Gomtinagar Extension. It comprises an international standard cricket stadium with about 50,000 seating capacity, a huge multi-sports outdoor stadium and an indoor stadium. The outdoor stadium would have provisions for basketball court, lawn tennis, etc.

Along with this, the city is also planning to give an International standard to its Capital. Lucknow is now taking a step in becoming the latest sports hub of India when the Andhra and Hyderabad teams compete in a Ranji Trophy Match which was held in floodlit Ekana International Cricket Stadium. Thus becoming the sixth first-class cricket venue of the “city of nawabs” but because of a grand sports infrastructure that is coming up fast over 71-acre land, called Ekana Sportz City. City has a big plan for sports events in Lucknow. It has been assumed that once the sports complex is completed, then this city will be counted in sports calendar of the country.

Uday Sinha, Managing Director of Ekanza sports City, told this information to “Lucknow Waasi”. He also said that apart from the cricket stadium, the Ekana Sportz City will be have an air-conditioned multi-sports indoor stadium with 2,500 seats. This will also have squash courts, badminton courts etc.

Football stadium will also be built, as per FIFA specifications with a seating capacity of 30,000 people. Sinha said that ISL team (Delhi Dynamos) have already entered into an agreement with Ekana Sports City to use the facility when ready. “ISL matches are expected to be played at our football stadium from 2018.

Who knows, Both International Stadium will complete one day and it will host T20 and International which will give the pride to city “Lucknow”
